We recommend you joining the Church Family Facebook page to get update information. 3. Pastoral update 1. All routine pastoral visiting has been suspended until further notice. There will of course be emergency and exceptional situations that require a personal visit from the minster. These will not stop just contact Mark or the church mobile. 2. Pastoral phone calls can be arranged, and you are encouraged to call the Church mobile on 07933 142 328 or by email to chrystonchurch@icloud.com to arrange this when required. Please also email any prayer requests. These will be treated confidentially. 3. We will also endeavour to keep in touch with the most vulnerable members of the Church through phone calls and cards. We need your help with this so if you are able to help and be a pint of contact for someone please contact Mark on 07731 737 377 4. We also encourage those within and out-with the Church to be vigilant regarding our neighbours. Check in on your neighbours to make share they are well, offer to pick up some shopping for them if they are isolated and for your own well-being arrange a time each day or every couple of days to phone someone and have a blether and coffee as you chat away. 5. There is also an opportunity to help the wider community by contacting the Community Council by messaging 07548 243 272 or email chrystoncommunity+covid@gmail.com 6. If you find yourself self-isolating, please remember that help is there for you. You can still go for a walk, run in the car but just follow government guidelines in regard to social distancing. Just don’t become isolated. Worship and Nurture 1. As gathering in the building for worship is suspended all services will be broadcast live on YouTube at the normal times of 10.30pm & 6.30pm. You will be able to text in questions or prayer requests using the Church mobile. These will be confidential as we do not keep names of contacts in it. Words for the songs will appear on screen and we look forward to joining with you. 2. Small Group leaders will endeavour to keep contact with their group, and some will be able to use technology to allow a way of connecting. Each Wednesday at 8pm there will be a live stream on YouTube where we will explore the passage and
National Day of Prayer On Sunday 22nd March the Churches in the UK will be observing a National Day of Prayer. If you wish you may light a candle and put it (safely) in your front window to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is “The light of life.” These are extraordinary days which we are all facing. Our lives are being disrupted in unprecedented ways. As Christians we have our faith in Jesus Christ the one who is “Our shield and our defender”. In Him we place our trust and in Him we have our peace. Keep us, good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty and distress. Sustain and support the anxious and fearful, and lift up all who are brought low; that we may rejoice in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
Finances & Giving As there is no public gathering for worship naturally our church finances will be significantly affected. If you gave through open plate or FWO envelopes it would be helpful if you were able to set up standing orders or direct debits instead during this time. We are also looking at how giving could be done online through something like Just Giving. If that’s possible we will post soon. To set up standing order of direct debit please contact either Maureen in the office or our Treasurer Isabel McEwan. Isabel’s details. 01417792334 07519 758 723
Keep in Touch Please keep in touch. This season of uncertainty will pass and although there will be challenges there will be opportunities to give and receive love and care. We will grow as disciples as we pray, engage with the word and worship together although in a different way. If you are anxious share it, if you have gifts share them and let’s spur one another to lift our eyes and hearts to God. You are loved and valued and we grateful to have you as part of the church family. With gratefulness and dependence on God.
